Home Secretary Bigears (Charles Clarke) has backed Sir Ian Blair and his handling of the shooting. I guess he hasn't got much choice. If and when Blair goes down, and hopefully that will be sooner rather than later, Clarke might find himself out of a job too, as nobody seems too enamored with his performance as Home Secretary so far.

David, yes. Amazing how many times in the past that backing from a minister has been the kiss of death to the hapless victim of that support.
