Israel - Tasting Own Medicine.

Finally the Gaza Strip is to be returned to the Palestinians. The Israeli settlers have been handed their eviction notices by the army which protected them from the rightful owners of the land. The people who, over many years, have shown blatant disregard for the human rights of those they oppressed, are suddenly experiencing the devastating effect of of being forcibly uprooted from their homes.

The race that suffered the holocaust - and to this day bleats about it at every opportunity - then allowed themselves to lower their own standards to Nazi level in pursuit of their aims, are discovering the hard way that human rights are not just for them, and the God they believe in is not automatically on their side.

The settlers involved are lucky. They are being paid large sums in compensation for the loss of their homes. They won't suffer the same fate as the Palestinian people did after the war of 1967. This was occupied land, not promised land.

The West Bank too is occupied, not promised, and surely must be handed back as soon as possible, if not before.

Comments:
I served with the MFO Sinai and visited Gaza many a time. Full of slums side by side with big white houses belonging to the gang leaders. I only worry now that the nice settler's houses etc are all going to be divv'ed up between the warlords not those who need them....The other worry is that now Gaza is back in Palestinian hands (even though it originally belonged to Egypt) then there is another buffer/free fire zone for the IDF to retaliate in as there will no longer be any Israelis sitting between the IDF and the various terrorist/ militant/insurgent gangs.
