"Pompous Ass" Jails 73 Year Old Woman.
Sylvia Hardy, a 73 year old pensioner, was sentenced to 7 days in jail for refusing to pay £53.71 council tax.
A 71 year old retired vicar was recently jailed for 28 days for refusing to pay £691 council tax. He was sent to a high security prison.
Of course both these cases took place in England. Here in Scotland they don't jail people for non payment of this unfair and financially crippling tax, they just send round thugs called Sheriffs Officers with warrants allowing them to force their way into your home and take your furniture and other belongings to be sold off to recoup the tax owed - after they cover their own extortionate fees.
I'm not sure which is worse.
