Runner Missing In Mountains.
The weather here at the ass-end of nowhere is foul today. It will be worse on the Isle of Skye, where a 57 year old fell runner from England is missing in the Cuillin mountains after going for a run on Saturday.
Fell runners are people who run over mountains, remote tracks and through rivers, usually in shorts and singlet and wearing running shoes, invariably carrying little more than a light jacket to protect them from the elements. I have often seen them, alone or in pairs, running over peat bogs and rocks, when I have been working in godforsaken glens many miles from the nearest road, house or village.
They are nuts, pure and simple.
Hopefully this man was equipped more sensibly than the ones I have seen, and the mountain rescue teams find him today - alive.
