Snow's Coming.
Drumochter Pass near Dalwhinnie on the A9 in the Highlands, a couple of days ago. I'm going down that way on Monday, and hoping the snowline isn't any lower, or that it's gone altogether.
That's called wishful thinking.

I would love to spend one winter in a place so beautiful!
My husband's from Canada, so he's always complaining about Cincinnati winters. And it's not that his hometown and this one are so different, longitudinally speaking, but his town is farther east and is near one of the great lakes, which makes for 10' snow drifts. We just don't have those around here.
Eventually, I will make it to Scotland - maybe not during the winter, but it's on the short list of places I want to visit. Right under Alaska, which is arguably colder.

I know you're itching to leave, but you've got to admit the highlands are really stunning. as is evidenced by these gorgeous shots :)
Just be sure to come sometime, Sarkasmo - and let the Mongrel and me know when you do.
Winter can be the best time here, but only with snow and ice and sunshine. We get less of that now - the past 15 years or so have been getting more and more mild, dull, gloomy and wet.
Alaska I would love to visit.
