The Great Escape.
Lofty the turkey was loaded onto a lorry to be turned into a Christmas dinner and thought it was a bad idea, so he jumped off, went on the run, and got clean away.
PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, have invited Lofty to be the guest of honour at their vegan Christmas dinner table.
He should be an interesting guest - a smart turkey with a great escape story to entertain his fellow diners.

For Thanksgiving I went to a turkey raffle and they actually had a live turkey there. Mind you, I don't belong to PETA and I generally can't stand to listen to them use every single thing as a segue into a conversation about animal rights and their latest Adventures In Tofu...but I did feel sorry for the turkey in the cage, since the hall was filled with smoke and the noise was unbelievable.
All the other turkeys that were raffled off were really gift certificates for a grocery store. I didn't even use mine to buy a turkey this year.
The real turkey that was raffled got pardoned by the mayor and is now living on a farm nearby.

Thanks for that, Sarkasmo. People from PETA and vegans in general do tend to bore a bit. Nice to hear the turkey got spared to live out his or her life somewhere nice.
I'll put up with their occasional tediousness in exchange for all the work they do. PETA attracts a lot of wackos, but if it weren't for them, a lot more animals would still be suffering to supply the fur industry. They've brought animal cruelty to light on a global scale, so they can be forgiven for their weirdness.
Go Lofty! :D
