Doggone!
Coastguards were called out to Brean Down in Somerset on Sunday night to search for a hapless greyhound which had chased a rabbit over a cliff.
They didn't find the poor mutt.
Owner David Staynings said: "In a split second he'd gone over the cliffs and quickly went out of sight. It was a horrible moment."
No word about the rabbit's fate, but it probably died laughing.

Thanks Jez.
Amusing enough if it's not your own dog, but I know how I would feel if my daft mutt went thataway.
Once nearly lost our old Collie, Spangle, when he decided to go bird watching in the middle of a raging river in spate, but he managed - just - to get himself out.

It must have been a slow newsday for THAT to get written up. As I get older (I'm still working on a way to stop time, yet allow for progress to be made on my knitting projects), I tend to get really brokenhearted over hearing and seeing animals in any kind of pain. Even dogs. And I can't stand dogs.
I'd much rather read an article about the President running off a cliff. Sure, I'd feel bad if he died - I don't actually wish for people to die - but someone actually loved that dog.

I know how you feel, Sarkasmo, considering the older I get the more I prefer the company of animals to humans.
They're more cuddly, and they generally talk more sense.
