UK Makes Final WWII Debt Repayment To US.
It is more than sixty years since Britain secured multibillion-dollar loans from America and Canada to help defeat Hitler.
A final payment to both countries will be made later this week.
The US payment, ($83.25 million or £45 million) is only enough to keep troops in Iraq for a bit less than half a day extra and that, at the present rate of casualties, could mean the deaths of another two, perhaps three, American kids.
I hope Uncle Sam spends it on sweeties instead.
